Estimating Engineer – Strongsville – Day Shift Only

Estimating Engineer Job Description:

  • Prepare tooling and piece price quotations to fulfill customer inquiries.
  • Maintain vendor contact for outside processing such as secondary coatings, heat treating, tumbling and purchase parts.
  • In conjunction with required departments, determine estimated strip layout, required die types, the type and number of secondary operations, production, assembly, and packaging methods required to produce a part in the most efficient and cost effective way.
  • Complete in-house tooling forms, parts estimating forms, raw material cost requisition form and cost card to roll these costs into an estimate.
  • Request quotes and secure competitive costs from vendors for any outside items/processes needed to complete estimates.
  • Send prints and data to Costa-Rica Engineering facility as needed for flat blanks and other information needed for estimates.
  • Evaluate tooling cost breakdown sheets, packaging instructions and other customer provided documents to determine the required costs for each production step.
  • Conduct re-quotes for all customers including service requirements, labor adjustments, material or component price changes and volume fluctuations.
  • Maintain library of customer specifications to ensure meeting customer requirements.
  • Provide service and support to sales/engineering departments on any new and/or existing programs in all facets of their development.
  • Log new quotes in gateway, close out sent quotes in gateway, and fill out customer forms as needed.
  • Download/Upload data on Customer/Vendor ftp sites.
  • Travel to customers, potential customers and suppliers as needed.

 

Education Experience:

  • 3-5 years stamping, tooling and blueprint reading and/or Journeyman Tool & Die
  • 2 years stamping estimating experience
  • CAD and tooling design experience a plus
  • Computer knowledge- working knowledge of Microsoft products especially Excel

Quality Engineer – Seville – Day Shift Only

Quality Engineer Job Description:

  • Support and guide quality technicians in performing daily activities of in process layouts and the smooth operation of the production process.
  • Review the Operator Instruction Sheets to ensure the Job and Part Numbers are correct, the frequency of inspection is designated and that all the critical features and dimensions have been specified before issuing.
  • Periodically audit the production floor ensuring the processes, procedures and work instructions are being properly followed. When discrepancies are found ensure containment actions are implemented followed by proper notifications and re-training is accomplished.
  • Establish, maintain and operate the hold/non-conformance product area ensuring procedures are followed to include effective implementation of the MRB, sort area and scrap procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that Press Operators have OIS (Operator Instruction Sheets), Lot Trace Tickets (Lot Traceability and Routing System), Die Repair Sheets and any other paperwork necessary for quality parts production.
  • Operate Quality Gaging equipment (surface plates and accessories, reference (gage) pins, micrometers and dial calipers, coordinate measuring machines, functional gages and Rockwell Hardness Testers) for routine inspection of first-run production parts, start-of-run parts following die repair or replacement and end-of-run parts. Ensure that all critical features and dimensions are within the specified tolerances.
  • Perform process capability studies for critical parts and or dimensions, when requested to by Engineering, the Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager.
  • Maintain the gage verification/calibration status of all quality equipment within the facility. Schedule outsourced calibration as needed.  Ensure and maintain records per requirements.
  • Maintain and complete OIS, In-Process Layout Sheet, Part Print (engineering drawing), Production Routing Slip and Die Repair Sheet for Job Folder.
  • Stop production (shut down presses/welders/tappers, etc) based upon quality inspection, and discussion with available technical experts (ex: Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer, any individual designated to have this responsibility by the Quality Manager, etc)
  • Perform “green dot” and “blue dot” inspections per the appropriate IATF 16949 guidelines in order to ensure that completed product can be moved from the production Focus on the customer’s process and our ability to monitor and maintain those controls necessary for internal levels of process control.
  • Review current customer quality manual to understand and determine the requirements in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Assist New Model Launch Teams, as required in quality planning issues that arise during Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  • Responsible to ensure all quality planning documents, i.e., FMEA, control plan, inspection standard, process control plan, capability studies, and Operator instruction sheets are correct. Conduct monthly PFMEA Go See & Fix

Education/Experience/Training

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in Quality, Manufacturing, and/or Product development
  • CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) status preferred.

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs; re-fill restroom dispensers as needed.
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Run Zamboni throughout the shop / production / blue top floors.
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture,
  • Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small
  • power equipment.
  • Replace filters on Air Handling Units / Compressors / Chillers / AC Units / Power Supplies.
  • Follow all applicable IATF 16949 policies, procedures and work instructions.
